She was on the internet at the age of 13 and was talking to a kid named tom. She had no idea that he was really a 56 year-old man. She started talking to him because she was mad at her parents. She had a friend relationship, but then it started to become more serious. He was the one person she trusted. He told her it would be nice if they were together all the time, so then she ran away. Someone saw and reported them together. He went to jail. He sent her a letter saying it was her fault and he was going to kill her when he got out. Also in that letter, he didn’t mention anything about caring about her. She then realizes that he could of done anything to her even could have killed her. She thought to her self, “If I would have became more social with others I would have a different view on things and never would have done what I have.”

Through searching, they were able to uncover her home phone, when she gets home, and the name of her mother. Using her number, they found out almost all her details including where she lives, what school she goes to, and her family’s name.

In Amy’s choice she decided to meet someone in a chat room to have someone to talk about her feelings. She met someone that was older. He tried to tell her that she could go live with him. The man showed up at her house and she went for a walk with him. She went away with him and he got sent to jail for taking a minor over state lines. He said he’d done it before and not gotten caught so she wonders where those people are. Amy still worries that the man may find her at her home again when he gets out of jail. She is very glad that she wasn’t taken and that he was caught.

The second video I watched was about Amy that had met an older guy online that listened to her feelings and problems at home. He said that he was better than what she was dealing with at home and she should come with him to live and not have those problems any longer. He had found out where she lived and met up with her and took her outside of state lines, the police caught him and he is now sitting in prison.

ReplyDelete2. Yes I have posted personal information on the internet.
3. Deputy Krupp told us that the most important thing was to never post any personal information online and to use common sense.
I watched the movie "Amy's Choice". In the movie, It talked about how a girl named Amy met a guy online trough a chat room. They had talked for about a month and she told him how she didn't like her life, so he said that she should run away with him. He got her phone number and they met outside of Amy's house and ran away together. Two days they were caught and the man was sent to jail for taking a minior over state lines. Unfortunately, the man had Amy's phone number an address, so once he gets out of jail he can come back and find her agin.
Teresa gave out hobbies, her little brother’s last name, and her occupation, she’s a female teen, and she has a vaild email address and instant message. The only personal information I’ve given out is on my facebook. The most important thing about using a computer is never give out your ASL, and never add people you don’t know on to your social networking site, and never bully people online.

3. The most important thing to remember is to be smart about who you talk to or what sites to go on.
4. The video I watched was called “Julie’s Journey” and it is about this girl named Julie who ran away for 2 week with this guy she meets online. Once she came back she found out that the guy was a convinced murderer. She learned that not all people online are actually who there are.
1. Teresa gave out enough information for people to know about the gender (female teen), her hobbies (music and basketball), a family name, the ability of locating her, a valid email address, telephone number, mother or sister’s name, when she is likely to be home, and how to use her telephone number to locate her.
ReplyDelete2. I try not to put enough information about myself for someone to locate me or know about my interests. For email addresses, I have had to put out bits information.
3. The most important thing to remember online is to be safe, like not allowing specific information to be found, to not store personnel information online, to be careful what we say and who we talk to, and to think about what we do online before we actually do it.
I chose to watch the called “Amy’s Story”, about a young teenage girl dealing with problems that she felt no one else could help her with. One day she met a man online through a chat room where he comforted her and so on for the next month. Eventually she had given him enough information about herself that he found where she lived and the phone number and convinced her to runaway with him. Two days after running, they were caught and now he is sitting in jail but claims that he will come for her when he gets out because he knows where she lives. She described her feelings as scary and of how stupid she felt for giving away information leading to where she lived.
